Event Overview
Cooking Competitions are a fun (and delicious) way to run a donor event. Employees get to show off their cooking skills and everyone else gets to enjoy the results. Options include chili cookoff, baking competitions, or literally any fun cooking idea people in your office get excited about.
What you'll need to run this event
Before Event
- Choose the food item, prizes for the competition and the date, time, and cost for participants to enter and for attendees to purchase food for the event
- Outreach to find participants for the event
- Outreach to advertise event to all possible attendees
- Find 3-5 people to act as judges for the event (You can also run this as a "pay to vote" event so the most purchases decide the winner)
- Create/Get Awards /Prizes for Winner(s)
- Get materials depending on food (plates, bowls, tablecloths, bibs, etc.)
- Sign up volunteers for support (setup, cleanup, accepting payment, etc.)
During and After Event
- Event setup
- Run voting/judging of the event
- Track "paying" attendees at event
- Breakdown/Cleanup of event
- Complete Event Report Form
- 2 volunteers count cash and checks, initial/record on event report form
- Find SECU branch near you to get FREE cashier check for cash amount
- If unable to get the same day as event, lock up cash/checks overnight
- Mail cashier check to SECC
What you'll get for running this event
The SECC will provide the following:
- Food supplies such as bowls, plates, utensils
- Accept participant payment online - (https://ncsecc.org/secc-donor-event/)
- SECC Shirts and other swag items available as prizes (***Use request form below***)
***For supplies delivery, please fill out request at least 7 biz days before event. Pickup of supplies available in Durham until day before event***
